Portland Youth Performance and Lewiston Open Mic

Since September, two groups of 8th grade students at King Middle School have been working on two new original plays. You are invited to join us at 5pm on Tuesday, December 10, at King Middle School in Portland for the premieres of “An Unempathetic World” and “What Happens After”! The event will also feature the screening of a new documentary film about MIO’s work this year,  a dialogue with the creators and performers of the plays, and a dinner reception. Lewiston Community Open Mic

Join us for the last MIO community Open Mic night of the year on Tuesday, December 17, 6-8pm at L/A Arts in Lewiston. The December Open Mic “Everything Must Change” will be hosted by Lewiston Community members Bashir Matan, Hassan Hassan, Isha Abdullahi, and Mohamud Duale with featured artist Viva! All are welcome. This is a substance free event.

All of MIO’s Open Mics in Lewiston this year are funded by the National Endowment for the Arts to support art for healing after the devastating mass shooting on October 25, 2023.
